Cabrahigo Tower

The Cabrahigo Tower, also known as the Condestable and El Torrín, is a Cantabrian medieval tower located in the neighbourhood of El Hoyo, in Isla, and one of the three medieval towers that this town has. Probably built in the 14th century, we know from a document from the 17th century that it first belonged to the Velarde family, one of whose members was appointed in 1473 Constable of Castile—a title perpetuated by inheritance—then to a Herrera and finally to the Isla family.

It stands on an isolated hill. It is built of masonry stone with ashlar corners and openings. It has a rectangular plan; two of its sides are 11 metres long, while the other two are 9 metres. It has four storeys, with a total height of 12 m, crowned with battlements. It has very few openings; one of them was created after the pacification of the territory during the reign of the Catholic Monarchs.

In 1992, it was declared a Site of Cultural Interest
