Isla Pepper
The municipality’s vegetable garden offers all kinds of fresh produce by season, among which runner beans, onions and tomatoes, among others, stand out particularly. Above all, the Isla pepper makes a name for itself, and over time it has built an enormous reputation for its flavour and thickness, and today it carries the Government of Cantabria’s controlled quality label. In September, the Town Hall organises the Isla Pepper Fair, featuring numerous food-related events centred around this vegetable, such as the events of the same name.
Isla Lobster
All the seafood and fish from this coast can be tasted in the Ecoparque restaurants. Among them, the Isla lobster also stands out; its fishing is a tradition that goes back several centuries, and especially since 1906, when the Government of Spain granted Quejo the distinction of an exporting port for lobster. Numerous restaurants have live seafood tanks, where they keep seafood and lobsters alive, so that they can go from the sea to the table. The Isla CIT organises the Isla Gourmet events in May, offering tasting menus featuring the best products from the sea.
