The III Short Story Competition Ecoparque de Trasmiera, convened in August, closed the submission period for entries on 31 October last year, with a total of 207 participating stories—a figure that continues to grow year after year, showing the excellent reception it has received among specialists in this genre.
The competition began with 157 stories; in the second edition this number rose to 169, and in this third edition it surpassed 200 stories, coming from all Autonomous Communities and from numerous foreign countries, which places the Ecoparque de Trasmiera contest as a competition that is practically established on the national scene.
This year’s call for entries in 2020 was delayed due to the pandemic, which is also the reason why it was not possible to schedule the presentation of the corresponding book of the stories awarded in 2019, which is currently being prepared for publication.
The members of the Jury have already been selected, and they have begun the process of assessing the stories, whose decision will be delayed in line with the later reception of entries in the competition, up to the end of the year or mid-January 2021. Afterwards, depending on how the health situation develops and in accordance with the restrictions expected regarding mobility and meetings, an appropriate date will be scheduled for the awards ceremony, when the presentation of the second-edition book of the contest will also take place.
It should be remembered that the Jury may award a first prize of €1,000, a second prize of €500 and a third prize of €300. The cash prize is also granted in terms of limited author’s rights for the edition of the book that will collect the winning stories, as well as any possible reprints. The authors will retain their author’s rights for the possible publication of the stories through a publishing house and for commercial purposes, but in any case they must expressly state that the story has been awarded in this Ecoparque de Trasmiera Competition. The three prizes will be complemented by an acknowledgment trophy and a diploma. All prizes will be donated by the Arnuero Town Hall. The Jury, taking into account the quality of the submitted stories, may award up to 2 runner-up prizes (accésits), which will have no cash prize, but will include a diploma and a trophy.
